My grandmother is 72 years old, she struggles every night sleeping. She has had a thyroid problem for years and takes cortizone for it. Even with her sleep meds and anti depressants she just still seems so down and out. I really would love to see her be active and happy her last years. Any suggestions. P.S. I have been buying her vitamins(B-12 womens one a day health) Im not sure that they are helping too much.
Even on medication, the thyroid can get out of whack. Please have her thyroid checked again. Take her to either an internist or an endocrinologist if you think she may have other issues. I am not sure how long she has been on cortisone ( and don't mess with the dosage of that unless the doctor tells you to) but it may be having some effect on the depression. Most docs check the thyroid levels in the blood every 3 months and some people need it checked monthly. You are so sweet to ask a good question to try and help your Grandmother out. Please let the doctor know she is having trouble sleeping and is still depressed, the meds may need adjusting. Hope she gets better soon.
my granddad is 83 and i found something that works great for his sleep.you need to by her some melatonin in the vitamin isle it is all natural and it want have any side effects.and if she still depressed get her doc to try her on lexapro it works great for my grandad.well good luck. write back and let me know how she is doing
