my friend has been taking his moms methimazole pills and im wondering if they will harm him and why he would like taking them?

If you take methimazole and you don't need it ... it'll reduce levels of thyroid hormones and this certainly isn't ideal.
Why would he be taking his mum's pills? It must be for him.
Methimazole prevents the thyroid gland from producing too much thyroid hormone.
Methimazole is used to treat hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). It is also used before thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatment.
