... to gastric issues related to malabsorption due to gastric bypass surgery. I have extreme pain due to Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME among other things. My doc started me at 4mg 4 x's a day but it only takes the edge off. I experimented with taking 8mg 4x's a day and that is much more helpful. But need to call Dr to ask for a new script and wondering what dosage I should ask for?
There is no standard dose. They usually go with the lowest effective dose that relieves the pain. They actually started you out at a pretty moderate dose. If the 8's work better then you need to discuss it with your Dr. It is not usually a good idea to escalate your dose on your own. If you continue to use the 8mg dose you are going to run out after 2 weeks instead of the 30 days the script is written for and he may not fill it until the 30 days is up or your insurance will kick it back because it was written for 30 days supply. You could be out of meds for 2 weeks so be sure to let him know and get a new Rx if needed.
