i suffer from pms. for 2wks before my period i am so irritable all the time and i get very depressed at times. i dread every month and i just can function properly, i also find that i drink more alcohol at the time of the month and this makes my depression worse, i know its a cylcle i have to get out of. i am now weaning of lexapro and started nortriptyline i hope this helps but feel depressed still. doctor told me to give it two wks and if it doesnt help go back on the lexapro. he didnt tell me to wean of lexapro but that what i am doing i am at 2.5 a day and 35mg of nortriptyline. anyone got any advice it would be much appreciated, sorry about the bad spelling
Hi and welcome. I used to suffer terribly with PMS and now my daughter has it. :(
She has started a birth control that actually works very well for her. It is the one that gives you a period only 3x a year. This has helped with her moods as well as the monthly nausea and cramping. Do you think your doctor could help you with trying something along those lines? She said it has also helped with the 'blues' that go with the PMS.
