I'm 18 years old in college and recently engaged. My fiancee and I have been together for 5 years and know for a fact that we are each other's first and only sexual partner (no I am not being naive or exaggerating or immature about this fact). I was wondering how long should I wait to have intercourse without a condom in order for us to be in the "safe zone". I continuously asked my physician, and she kept shouting that I should always use condoms, even after explaining my situation. She then told me about 3-4 weeks. Is that correct or should I possibly wait longer after the first pill?
What do I need to expect my first time taking Tri-Sprintec?

And I'm also uncertain as to when I should start the pill. My physician said that I could start taking it whenever and my period would be irregular but will straighten out after a while. Is this true?
