Savella helps my fibro. I am also taking Remifemin for nighttime hot flashes. My scalp, hair, face and neck are usually drenched.
What can I do to prevent excessive sweating?

Are you going through menopause? If you are it sounds as though you may need to consider hormone replacement therapy or gabapentin. Talk with your healthcare provider.

Have you researched the medicaion Hytrin? I found it on another question about excessive sweating and this person had wonderful results.

The medicines can make you sweat too. I have both menopause and a lot of medicine too. Let me know if you find what works please! I go from freezing to sweating in 2 seconds flat.
Sorry but that makes me really want to scream, I have been asked that repeatadly. NO, I am 42 and I am having the same problem. I have been taking cymbalta and just switched to savella to see if I have less sweating. This is misery, within minutes my shoulder lenght hair will become wet underneath and damp all over. Looks like I am going to have to stop these meds all together. I take savella and gabapentin for fibromyalgia and interstitial cystitis pain. I also take a pain med for the IC pain. The combination works great but I can't take this side effect any longer.
I know you don't want to hear this, but I started premenopause at about 35. Had a total hyster. everything removed at 43. I will be 25x's2 in Dec. and STILL going through the hot-freezeing kick. I stopped the HRT. Dr. told me no matter when I quit I would have 2-6 years to suffer, and the meds. do make them come on more often I think.
Night time sweats that bad is most likely not the meds.Sorry.
For myself, I have had my hormones checked multiple times and I am definitely not in peri or menopause. Unfortunately, I know that mine is caused by medication and I don't only have night sweats but during the day. Believe me, medication CAN cause horrific night sweats and awful sweating at other times. I am now taking gabapentin for nerve pain and am hopeful that it will be enough to help me when I stop the cymbalta or savella. I also take an narcotic pain reliever that is known for causing sweating as well.
I have found that making sure to wear natural fiber clothing, and using all cotton bedding do help somewhat. I also keep the ceiling fan on and another fan directly on me while I sleep. I live in the south so humidity is a huge problem for me. Going through this with medication has given me a preview omenopausese and I am not looking forward to that. I did see on here where one person reported success wih Hytrin, I might mention that to my Dr and see what he thinks about trying that.
Good luck to everyone else dealing with this also.
