I am needing a birth control. I tried Nuva Ring and it wouldnt stay in well so that is off the list, I have migraine headaches bad during my period, and I also have serious PMDD, which is like PMS x's 100 ( not good ) Anyone have any suggestions?
Yes! Mirena! It's an IUC (interuterine contraceptive). It goes in your uterus and is good for 5 years, no upkeep needed. I had migraines pretty much the whole span of my periods, plus usually a few days before/after. I was miserable! Mirena made my periods go away and in turn, my migraines as well. And my PMS. I still get a little moody sometimes, but nothing like before. I also still get migraines sometimes, but they are usually triggered by stress and I usually only get them once every month or two. I don't know if you've ever had kids or not. I say that because my sister had one put in after she had her daughter (I have never been pregnant) and she still spots, but she too has noticed a lot fewer migraines. It's a little pricey (about $700), but it's totally worth it. Some insurances will pay for it, especially if you could get your doctor to word it like he's preventing migraines. And, if you add up BC Pills, feminine supplies and PMS meds for 5 years it really is worth the money. You can also have it taken out before 5 years if you decide to have kids. It's definitely worth talking to your doctor about.
Oh, almost forgot, one of the best parts of all is that you can take antibiotics, etc and not have to worry about it not working.
