I know someone who took adderall up until her fifth month of pregnancy. What effect does this have on her child?
Adderall is FDA Pregnancy Category C.
There isn't a lot of information out there as there have been very few studies of Adderall use in pregnant women so no one really knows. Adderall should only be used in pregnancy if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Adderall (like other amphetamines) may be harmful to an unborn baby. It could also cause premature birth, low birth weight, or withdrawal symptoms (such as agitation) in a newborn if the mother takes Adderall during pregnancy.
