I don't remember what the dr. prescribed for my tonsilitis & I cannot read the writing. Plus the pharmacy has the script. I know that it was an antibiotic. My insurance doesn't cover it & I cannot afford it. So I would like to know what antibiotic drugs are given commonly for Tonsilitis
What antibiotics are commonly given for Tonsilitis?

It could be anything from Augmentin, Z pack (azithromycin), Erythromycin, doxycycline, Levoquin, Penicillin, Vibramycin, Sulfa, Bactrim DS. Those are all antibiotics that are given for tonsilitis, ear infections, lung infections, sinus infections. There are also cephalasporins and Keflex. Let your doctor know that you don't have insurance and they usually are glad to write you something that is generic or not expensive.
