I don’t have fibromyalgia, I have Post Polio Syndrome. I had paralytic polio in 1949. I am 60 years old. My doctor and I discussed taking Savella for pain relief and also as a help for weight loss, but didn't know whether Savella would be a help or be harmful.
Can you let us know if Savella would be a health fit for a person suffering from Post Polio Syndrome? I have trouble walking, extreme fatigue, severe osteoporsis, and I still work fulltime which takes any and all the energy I have.
Thanks for your help in this matter.
I do not have any answers, but I started taking Savella this week for PPS. My doctor said "they" are looking at Savella for PPS, but there are no results yet. I have tried to research treatments for PPS, but have not had any luck. I had Polio at age 1 and am 58 years old. I can keep you posted on any reults with Savella.
I was sent to a Rheumetologist to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.(Two physicians told me "The only way to diagnose Fibromyalgia was to rule out Rheumatoid Arthritis") The only tests he took was Xrays of every joint in my body. Without any further testing and a month of waiting for a follow-up appointment I was told that I probably have Fibromyalgia or Post Polio (I had polio in 1956) and Osteo degenerative arthritis in every joint. (Not indicated on the radiologists report) He told me that "There is nothing he could do except have a conference with my family and let them know that the pain I was having is for real". He then offered me a hug and sent me away. I am very frustrated and tired of being a guinea pig with every new drug that comes on the market. The side effects are SCARRY and I'm so afraid of becoming addicted to drugs. I am know starting Savella.
I wish I could find a Doctor that was familiar with PPS. I was told by the Rhumetologist that there isn't very many specialists in the country that know anything about PPS and it's treatment. I you have PPS and know of a GOOD physician that is familiar with any successful treatment of PPS, Please let me know.
