I take 150mg of bupropion XL daily. My pharmacy recently changed brands and I am finding the side effects are increased--like I have had three extra cups of coffee. The FDA theoretically monitors dosages across brands for consistency but this seems like a pretty significant difference. Has anyone else had this experience with bupropion?
I found this with manufacturers also. I do not think we can rely on the FDA. They get flooded by billions of meds that are made in foreign countries with little to no regulation. For my own experience with different manufacturers it make a difference. One manufacturer of WB made me really sleepy another made me wired. They claim that all the ingredients are suppose to be the same. But they have to tweak the generic time extended formulas, since the big pharm companies do not have to disclose their formula for the time release action. They also can have additives and fillers that may cause people to have adverse reactions. Only the main/active ingredient has to be the same. Some people have reported the same with generic vs brand name meds.
Best to look up the manufacturer on your prescription bottle and google that company. I tracked one of mine to a company in India. I try to get the ones made in the US.
You are not the only one that has noticed the difference in manufacturers and not just with Wellbutrin.
I found it best to stay with one manufacturer for the Wellbutrin.
