Wellbutrin XL 150 mg: How can I determine if my prescription is generic or not?

I have been skimming around online to find out if gas and bloating is a side effect of Wellbutrin XL and have come across several comments pertaining to the generic version of the drug causing more of the negative side effects than the brand name version. I was on the drug years ago and did not have this problem. I am 1 week on and have major gas and bloating. I called the pharmacist and he said he "didn't think there was a generic version" hmmm... shouldn't he know these things? Anyway, my pills have a pink WXL 150 stamp. Any input?
I have to agree with you, your pharmacist should know the answer or at least know where to look to find it. Wellbutrin xl brand says wellbutrin xl on it. The best way to find the answer is to look at the label. If it says wellbutrin as the drug name its the brand, if it was generic it would say bupropion xl (same as wellbutrin xl)
Sorry, reading your question late. The pharmacist you spoke to did not know about the existence of Buproprion? Shocking. I was on the generic version of Wellbutrin for a period of time and did not tolerate it well at all. In the case of this med, I think there is a big difference. Hope by now you're squared away.
