I just wanted an update since a lot if the questions similar to this one were older. I have been in this medication for 4months and given 3 separate generics. I was just wondering if you have found one you really like
Hi Mamakitty! The most effective generic wellbutrin sr that I've used, with the least side effects, Is the Bupropion SR 150mg, by Mylan Pharmaceuticals. Another good thing about this company is that they are based in the United States, in Pennsylvania. Many other companies are manufacturing their generics in plants in India and Egypt, and other places around the world. I have tried Sandoz, Anchen, Watson, Global, Par, Teva, and others besides Mylan. I have had adverse side effects with the others, such as serious insomnia, headaches, increased anxiety, pain in my stomach, bloating, dizziness, wanting to cry, feeling like I am going to go crazy, weight gain, carb craving, ringing in my ears, etc. Or, I didn't have many side effects with some of these brands, but I didn't get much relief either! When I had my last prescription filled, it was Sandoz. I told the pharmacist I had to have Mylan, and she corrected it immediately. She agreed that many of her patients had the same type problems when they took other generics also. The generics are all made with the same ingredients as brand name. But when the patent ran out on brand name, the company had to release their formula of ingredients, but they did not have to release their time-release formula; therein lies the problem. And they are allowed to use different fillers. With the SR and the XL, they release different amounts at different times throughout the day than brand does. With one I took, it released a huge amount into my system in the first few hours, which gave me great anxiety. Some of them would release too slowly, and some can pass through your system unabsorbed, and come out in your stool unused. So, they work differently on different people, also because we all have different chemical makeups. Believe me, it took a long long time for me to go through this process and find the right one. Just a heads up, many people have to try about 3 different ones to find the most effective one for them. Some lucky folks are happy with the first one they try, though! I had much more success with the SR than the XL. SR releases over a 12 hour period, so I could control when I took it and it didn't keep me awake at night. On the other hand, the XL releases continuously over a 24 hour period, so I had a problem with insomnia with that formula. I hope you find the right one for you soon, Mamakitty, because when you do, it will make a big difference in how you feel. Good luck! Let me know how it works out for you please? Thanks. I hope this information helped! "G"
I agree with Gmc.
Try not to have your pharmacy switch your generic manufacturer at each refill. Best to stay with the same one for consistency.
Hope you find what works best for you :)
