I have recently started taking Wellbutrin and it has helped me in ways that I cannot describe fully. In short, I have felt confident and haven't felt this "myself" since the 5th grade.
My issue is that I am turning 21 in November and personally I would like to partake in the festivities of my own birthday. However, this is problematic because of the interaction of Wellbutrin and alcohol. Is there any advice that you guys can give me as to how I can handle this situation?
Wellbutrin and Drinking?
As Pledge states, your best bet is to not drink. Drinking will likely increase the side effects of this medication including headache, nausea and the slight risk of seizure. If you feel you must drink keep it to a minimum, no more than 2 at the most. Alcohol is a depressant so drinking only increases the very reason you are taking the med for in the first place.
Since its the wellbutrin that has made you feel "yourself", alcohol definately comes second, and should be avoided. I stopped drinking any alcohol at all when I went on anti depressants 40 yrs ago. Have a cola or something and let them think there is booze in it. You'll be the one without a hangover.
