i had my gallbladder out and everything went through me when i ate. my doctor gave me welchol and it worked but i just took one and i am not going at all. so for now i am not taking it for now. is it because i dont eat that much?
I don't know what form what you're taking comes in, but is it possible to cut the dose in half when you take it? Like, if it's a pill, break it in half and just take half at a time. It sounds like it's too high of a dose for you and you need less than the dose you've been given. And yes, if food was going right through you and you don't eat much, it's likely that it's not moving through your system, now that the Welchol has helped with that, because of the amount of food you're eating. I've noticed that when I don't eat very much, I go a longer time between movements, though when it comes out, it's no different than when I'm going more often when I'm eating more. Question though, what exactly was it prescribed to you for, specifically? I looked it up and it states that it's for cholesterol, was it prescribed for that? Or was it prescribed off label to help with your digestion? If it was prescribed to control your cholesterol, I would hold off and wait to talk to your doctor before adjusting your dose. But if it was prescribed off label to help with your digestion, I think it would be rather safe to try taking less at a time if it's working "too good" for you, and see if that helps. But definitely let your doctor know all of this next time you see him/her, so they know that you're taking a different dose.
