... pain and I needed more and more to deal with my pain. As of today I am up to #20 of Butrans. I have Hydrocodone but I don't know if I get any pain relief from it any more. This patch is helping a lot and I don't wake up in pain. I guess I need a pep talk from those who like the patch. I don't like how I feel (emotionally), I don't like having to worry about how hot of shower to take, or getting to hot while exercising or the hardest is not being able to be out in the sun as much as I want. I would appreciate any advice from those whom have been on the patch
hi daily, pep talk, lol. I been on bup for 5 years before that morphine. the morphine was a nightmare when it came to eating, sleeping, and not to mention wares off too fast. So my doc kept uping the dose. To be able to find a drug that's helps you eat and sleep, not to mention helps with your pain. Stop worring about not being in the sun and be greatful you found a med and a doctor that work well for you. as far as the hydrocodone, your right it wont do squatt. Now the emotional part, thats were you need to work with a counsler and your doc to help with meds or therapy. hope this helps daily. subzero58... pete
I have stared Butrans about six months ago. I love a hot shower and have had no problems with this. I am an avid boater and beach goer, since the patch is to be put on your upper torso only, I just wear a little tank top over my bathing suit top and rubberband it so I still get sun on my shoulders and tummy. I also use the large Tegaderm film to put over the patch. This really helps keep it on for the 7 days. Pick them up for about $15.00 at the drug store. If you can, have someone help you apply your patch so it can always go on smooth then have them cover it with the Tegaderm film. This patch has been a miracle for my pain... Once in a while I take Vicodin for breakthrough pain. So the Butrans should not make you feel limited in any thing you do. I work out in the pool and garden in the heat with no problem but... I think the Tegaderm helps a lot with adhesion. Yes, sometimes there is some intense itching and a burn feeling but then I just rest with a cool cloth over the area.
I was very blessed to find a pain management Dr. That is kind and very smart in what he does. So for those of you out there that are not satisfied , keep looking. There are Dr.s that understand you have a right to live your life with as little pain as possible. Hope the bit of advice helps.
