I'm on my 6th week of Zoloft had a nightmare last night that's the only side effect eating and sleeping okay still waiting for a big relief of my depression and the willingness to want to go outside of my house. First two weeks Zoloft was working fine I was feeling a big relief off 50 mg then I started to gain weight so I stopped taking Zoloft for a week then started back on 100 MGS Zoloft work for another week then all of a sudden it just stopped working I don't feel no relief from Zoloft right now has anybody had this experience will somebody please tell me if I'll get that relief back again.
It can take longer for the med to be fully effective. I would say 2 more weeks. With your on and off for taking this Rx, it causes pausing effect which might exacerbate your condition. If you are on it continuously for 6 to 8 weeks, then it should be fully effective. If there is no improvement for 8 weeks continuously, then you might want to talk to your psychiatrist about switching meds.
"Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks or more to fully improve.
Sertraline (Zoloft) | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness"
You'll need to take an adequate dosage continuously to derive the full benefits of this medication and since you are on a middle of the road dose you may need to increase your dosage to a maximum of 200mg/day.
Do NOT "adjust" your dosage without the supervision and approval of your prescribing physician and be sure to report all side effects and update her/him on your progress with the medication.
Best regards and good luck to you! Be patient and be sure to communicate with your doctor!
Just read this. My teenage daughter stsrted zoloft this last year. Started at 50 mg after a week did not help upped to 100 ok then not eventually got her up to 200 mgs and in about a month - 6 weeks in actually was ok. She was in remission for the severe depression and suicidal ideations now for 8 months. Unfortunately Zoloft gave her insomnia so she's been on low dose Seroquel which was added to the 10 mg Ambien( only kept her sleeping for 5 hours thats why the Seroquel) And unfortunately Zoloft did not help with her social anxieties amd nail biting and hair pulling he upped her almost 2 mths ago to 300 mgs! Her OCD stuff has slowed down significantly still there but nothing like it was. She feels ok but un motivated and flat as she described. He just prescribed Adderall in the am 20 mg with the Zoloft once a day.
We start tomorrow I am a bit nervous adding this to my 16 year old considering whats shes already taking. But anyway my whole point is when she started Zoloft it took a good 4 mths of upping doses to get her to a good point and while adjusting had some bad nose dives here and there ... so possibly you need a bit more and then give that a good 2-4 weeks to see . Hope it helps. Sorry how long my message is.
