Have been on Xanax for 10 years. Highest dose 8 mg a day. Weaned myself down to 3.5 mg a day. Still weaning. It's brutal. My doctor just dropped me from 3.5 a day to 2 mg a day. Any advice. Or stories of getting off of Xanax? I was originally put on it for GAD and panic attacks. I was diagnosed 23 years ago.
Susieq11; you are doing great so far, with as high of a dose as you have been on. Just stay the course, Please remember it is not going to be real easy so continue to take it just as the doctor says and it really can be done. lucky Xanax is much easier than some of the other Benzodiazepine are harder yet now remember Not only the physical effect but you must think positive and know that you can do this. But as you reach the 2mg and doing well try and get your doctor to only drop it more like 0.5 mg per week and many people seem to do much better when they get down to that dose and take your time for a while so have a good heart to heart talk with your doctor that you don't want any backslide by dropping too fast as the time progress's Your doing just fine keep at it and stay positive try other things you enjoy to keep your mind clear it helps to read, music etc. You well do this Chuck1957
