I have RA. (6 years now) I am starting to develop a lot of RA Nodules. Elbow for a couple of years, now they are starting on my hands. There are approx 20 on each hand. I live in an isolated area. I only have 1 Rheumatologist within 100 miles of my house. I din't quite trust her. Any suggestions?
First, did your Rheumy prescribe the change in meds and if so, what did she say to do?
If she wasn't clear, find another Dr as soon as you can. Also ask your pharmacist, they are a wealth of knowledge.
Methotrexate is the standard issue treatment so to speak. With the changes in health care, I have found that no one will cover another more expensive drug until we have tried methotrexate first.
The pharmacist should be your first point of info on drugs. They are the experts. The issue of the dr is a problem. I live in an area without much in specialists. Type rheumatologist into google and you'll get several sites that help you find them. You may find several not far away. I know tho I would have to go at least 35 miles. That's manageable for me. It might not be for someone else.
