My husband was diagnosed with RA last year. He's on Embrol, Sulfasalazine, and Plaquinil. His kidney function blood test has shown his kidney function is slightly low, and has been on the last two -three tests. I'm wondering if the sulfasalazine could be contributing to his kidney problem ?
Hi. I am wanting to find out if sulfasalazine has been connected to kidney failure ?

Hi
My husband has been on Methotrexate for 3 and half months and first on Hydroxycloroquine for 2 months and now on Sulfasalazine for three weeks.
The monthly blood tests are really critical, not only because one or two particular drugs could cause kidney problems, but because a lot or Methotrexate and or Sulfasalazine patients are also taking at least another four to five drugs.
If the Kindney Function is "slightly low" and has remained constant for three months, it should be monitored but should not be cause for alarm.
