i also take roxicodone 15mg 4x day. they don't seem to work like they use to. i have been on these meds for 10 years. i had spinal fusion reconstruction for isthmic spondylolisthesis high grade. my life has changed so much since. i have been going to the same doctor from the beginning, i've tried telling him that the meds just are not working very well anymore but he acts like he scared to increase the dose with all the misuse and media about these meds. i have been researching opana as an option for change. i go see him next week and plan on telling him something has got to change so i wanted to have all the info i can when i discuss this with him. any info would be helpful.
Hi Beth. Many people have switched from oxycontin to Opana ER with much success. Especially after being prescribed the new OP reformulated oxycontin. It doesn't seem to work as well as the original OC. When you are on a good extended release medication like Opana ER, MS Contin, etc. your breakthrough meds will work much better and some have been able to take less of them. As long as the strength is converted correctly, you should get better pain relief. Good luck to you and hope you find a good alternate medication.
By the time envelope I see I've missed the doctor's appointment, but here's a little of my story. I battled with back pain for 10 years, then had a Spinal Fusion with a Bone Graft from my hip February 17th 2009. It didn't work. After an assortment of pain medicaitons, I was put on Opana ER, and Opana 10mg which I take to this date. It seems that many are going to Opana and it does help quite a bit.
