I took my Nuvaring out on a Wednesday at the end of week 3 and had my regular period but didn't put a new ring in until the next Saturday after my period stopped, It's only been a week that my Nuvaring has been in and I'm not sure if I'm still protected against pregnancy or not?
Yes, if you ovulate early in your cycle. The second part is no you would not have been protected. Your body would respond as if it was the first time you used it. You should have waited 7 days before resuming sex or used condoms for the next 7 days.
(by now I assume you did not get pregnant but don't mistake luck for good thinking in the future).
As the previous poster has posted you should have inserted the Nuvaring on the following Wednesday and then you would have had ongoing protection from pregnancy. Because you were late there is a chance that you could ovulate and get pregnant. If this happens again you need to use another method of birth control (eg. condoms) for 7 days.
