I was prescribed 20mg of Vyvanase to start to counteract the weight gain of Lexapro (30 lbs in 3 months) My concern is the CNS effects of this medicine. The Lexapro is working great other than the weight gain. Any advice would be appreciated. I would have felt more comfortable with a much lower starting dose. Is there a way to take less than 20mg being that it comes in capsule form? Thanks in advance to all. A little general info (34 male) Slight depression disorder. 10 mg Lexapro at night with 1mg Klonopin.
Hello, am a little concerned why you were given the stimulant; the good thing is that this is a very low dose, and may help some with your depression as stimulants were used to treat depression years ago. However, my concern is the un-necessary work or stress of your cardiovascular system. Talk to your provider about alternate medications such as first choice amatadine or even Topamax. Both of these medications have shown some benefits of curbing appetite when increased from psychotropic medications. Good luck.
i stopped taking vyvanase last month after only being on it for 3 months i noticed a little weight lost but not as much as my hair lost. my strink gave it to me to try and get me motivated and out of bed because of my deep depression it didn't work. i really have a not so understanding family and when i missed xmas at my husbands side of the family most of them were pee'd off at me. sometimes it's not worth coming out from under the covers on any given day, sorry about my rambling. it also made my heart race i was on 30 mg a day. i take pristiq 50 mg & .05 -.10 mg in the am and.10 mg in the pm of ativan,i had to step that up while i was on the vyvanase.
i don't know how much over weight you are but over the past 15 years i've allowed myself with the help of stress & anti - depression med's and all that goes down that street to gain over 150 lbs and i felt my only option was a lap-band, fad diets didn't work and after 4 car accidents, fibroyalgia, exercise induced asthma & anxiety disorder, exercising was out so sept 07 i got a lap band,i've lost 75 lbs still need to lose some more but since the lyrica it has put 26 lbs back on me this past year. my husband got a band for weight loss and diabetes maintence he was of his meds in 2 months. this was our experience hope this has helped ,hey he has lost 80 lbs . missy2
