Here is the official answer:
"The pharmacokinetics of vortioxetine (2.5 mg to 60 mg) are linear and dose-proportional when vortioxetine is administered once daily. The mean terminal half-life is approximately 66 hours, and steady-state plasma concentrations are typically achieved within two weeks of dosing."
What that means is that in doses between 2.5 and 60 mg the concentration in your blood drops by 50% about 66 hours after you have been on it for two weeks. It lasts a long time. My doctor said that if I missed a dose, I should not worry about it since I have been on Brintellix for 1.5 years. He also said I could take it every other day if the costs were too high. They are very high, but I have managed.
While you are ramping up in the first few weeks, you may have some variability. Also, at 5mg you are in the lower end of the dosage scale. Since everyone is different, you may not have enough in your system to reach the a steady-state level, yet.
