Can vivitrol be given taking tramadol? For pain.
Tramadol and naloxone together can lead to seizure activity so I am not sure if that extends to naltrexone as well. I would discuss it with your Dr. The interactions checker doesnt have an interactions but that isnt always accurate. If a pain Dr gave you both medications then it is probably okay. If they were given by different Drs then ask your pain specialist or PCP if they can be used together. Tramadol, while it acts on opioid receptors, is not a true opioid. It is considered "opioid like". Naltrexone competes with opioids for receptors so since tramadol acts on those same receptors, the naltrexone may block some of tramadols actions. I would discuss it with a Dr who is familiar with the actions of both.
Hi, as Dzoo has remarked, no interaction risk is present on the Drugs.com interactions checker, however, i was prescribed Naltrexone (Vivitrol) a while ago, and was taking Tramadol at the time. I was warned that i would be unable to start taking Naltrexone until i discontinued the Tramadol & that all traces of it were 'out of my system'. It is difficult to advise... but you should be safe asking your doctor or prescribing physician what their view is?
