Hi Lavedeso: You mentioned that you were taking a high dose of Vitamin D3 because you had a deficiency. Did you have bloodwork done so that you and your doctor would know how deficient you were? Did your doctor then decide on what dose of Vitamin D3 that you would need to get you back in normal range?
If not under a doctor's care, a person can sometimes do more harm than good. Please call your doctor and tell him about the problem you are having with the swelling and pain. Please let us know how it turns out.
lAVEDESO; Yes I agree with G Mc and also if it was gout most people may have to stay on a medication ongoing you are going to have to get in soon and have that checked. Or call the office and let them know it is back and if it is in the same place Most people think Gout just makes the big toe red and swollen but that is not so. I have seen it as you described yourself so if it gets painful head for the E.R. or see if you can get in to see the doctor tomorrow meaning Monday.
Do not have experience with gout, however had severe reaction to extremely low Vit D3 & B12. Scary memory issues. Was told if not treated may become permanent. Was given B12 shots then 1000mcg daily, permanent. D3 300mg slowly up to 1000mg daily, also permenant. As noted, it is important to have levels checked at intervals to make sure in correct theraputic range. I have found that when one has multiple medical issues, or indeed any medical issues, it is advisable to consult with Doc before taking any vitamins or supplements, some of which may have adverse reactions with some meds. Self research is also an excellent thing to do before talking with Doc. Good luck, hope this helps.
