B12 and Folate are essential to proper nerve function. B12 unless you have a rare deficiency you have years worth stored; if it's folate you need the supplement daily. Alcoholics are prone to folate deficiency peripheral neuropathy for the most part while Vegans have predominantly a B12 deficiency issue.
The problem is there are a host of very different issues that cause peripheral neuropathy and the above two are just examples.
