Have been on Wellbutrin & Pristiq for depression/anxiety, &Adderall for narcolepsy for 3 years. I'm doing ok but feel like I shouldn't have a lack of motivation & be averse to being with people.
Hello Sopranold. not that old for a soprano are you? Lol.
Have you been working on this with a therapist? Medication will only take you so far. Have you investigated exercise, yoga, meditation? Helps to know what you have tried.
You have a child or children. Do they bring you joy? Does music? Does performing? Does your spouse?
Life does not have to be like this. Life can be improved. Many on this site are going through the same thing or have found the other side of the better life. So, yes it can be done and yes it happens every day. Sounds like it is your turn.
Will another medication help? Perhaps. I do hope so for your sake. Not all medications work for everyone. This is always trial and error. Others will give you both sides on this medication. There are books and excellent therapists out there to explore. Does that also interest you? Karen
I am so sorry I didn't see this question! You are in the right place and Karen gave you some great advice. :-)
I am in my 2nd month of taking Viibryd and I LOVE it! I was on Zoloft for many years for depression and anxiety. I would avoid after work and weekend social situations like the plague... making up any excuse possible not to have to go. After a while; however, I started wanting to join the land of the living again and decided to talk to my doctor about a change in my medication. He started me on the starter pack and I initially had mild GI issues (resolved this by taking my pill w/ at least 250 calories) and a foggy head feeling. I only lasted on the 40 mg dose for 3 days before having a horrible panic attack. My doctor and I agreed that moving me back to 20 mg was the best plan.
Viibryd has helped me open up again and enjoy life. I laugh so much more and I enjoy the simple things again. My family is truly grateful, as well. They have their old "Liz" again... someone none of us had seen in quite some time. If you start experiencing initial s/e, stick with it. Remember to take it w/ at least 250 calories. It seems to affect people differently in regards on what time of day is best to take it. I take mine in the late evening, but I've talked to others that must take it in the morning.
Please never hesitate to message me or ask the group a question. Keep me updated on your progress! Best of luck!
Sorry I didn't see your question previously. Busy summer! I would like to just let you know that Viibryd has made a huge difference in my life. There may be some unpleasant side effects along the way, but I toughed them out and for me, it has been a life changing med.
Certainly our diagnoses are not identical, but possibly in some ways they arevsimilar. Your life is quite interesting and your schedule busier than mine, I'd guess! Although very accomplished in life, I was diagnosed as an adult with ADD and depression. I also have some well-masked social anxiety. My life is busy and very full. I have a husband, children and a lil granddaughter that I adore! I live in France part of the year. Alas, our problems find us no matter what continent we are on or how many projects we undertake. We must all find our own causes, our own center, and our own peace.
If you choose to start a Viibryd regime and I can answer any more questions, I would be glad to do so. I will add you to my Friends' List. You can ask a question on the forum or send me a private message. Best Regards and Good Luck on your path.
