... had the same problem with Flexeril a medicine for back pain which they stopped making the brand name. Does anyone know of a Drug store still providing Vicodin, Vicodin ES in brand name or any manufacturer details? I take this medicine for severe migraines I've had for 15 years. Without, I have no idea how I'm going to live if that's really living at all, but just surviving to suffer
You should be able to request this from any pharmacy. Have your Dr. write "do not substitute generic" and you'll get brand. Hope this helps.
I was under the impression that hydrocodone and tylenol was the same whether brand or generic. I wonder when the pharmaceutical companies will let the individual decide what combination of medications to put in our bodies. I don't think in this country one can get plain hydrocodone.
I can get either depending upon how the doc writes the prescription. As stated above, it does have to state "do not substitute generic." however, your insurance, if you have it, may not pay and you will have to pay top dollar. I have found no difference and am pretty sensitive to meds.
Quick call to the doc ought to fix this.
Oh man, finally, someone else in my same boat. I cannot find any Vicodin either, and I too have migraines which started in my 20's. Been on Vicodin ES for the past 15+ years. I called Abbott Laboratories and they said it was because the freaking FDA says there's too much acetemophin (spelling is definitely wrong on that medication), but only 25 mg too much, so they did some reformulating of Vicodin, and it was suppose to be out the end of August. As of yesterday (9/4), the FDA hadn't released Vicodin yet. Abbbott said to call back on Friday to see if it had been released. Today is my first day without any Vicodin, and it's excrutiating. My doctor said to take the generic, well, generic is like swalling a water pill. It's useless for me to pay out for a generic of Vicodin. My doctor also said there was no medication comparable to Vicodin, so I'll have to wait this out (his words exactly).
Yes I do , But you do not need them believe me, I have worse than migraines, this is my 3rd day with no vicodin ES, 750mg, up to 8 a day for 2 years, I just want my life back, so just go buy some Excedrin migraine and save your life and your Family, believe me its hard but HAS to be done if you want to get your life back and quit letting the vicodins, control your everyday life. GOOD LUCK!!! You can do it, IT is hard but you only life once and if not for your self do it for your family, as I am!!!
Hi, I take Vicodin ES for 2 years now up to 8 a day and I take flexeril they are both prescribed the real ones although I quit 3 days ago now and need all the support I can get. I am scared and in a lot of pain and withdraws, I just want my life back for myself and my family, I will suggest go to the pharmacy and buy some alive and Excedrin migraine, they seem to be helping me somewhat with my headaches and pains, GOOD LUCK!!
I have had pain since the early 80's. Back then they gave Tylenol/Codeine, 3 & 4. Then they started using Tylenol/Hydrocodone. I could tell the first time I got the generic codeine, that it did nothing. I know they swear it is the same drugs, but not always the same bases and binders. This can affect how it is processed in the body. The generic Hydrocodone isn't as bad.
What is the stupidest is in europe and other countries, they can get just codeine or hydrocodone without the tylenol, but here they think it is some how worse without the tylenol. So they have it as a schedule 1 or 2 drug. Makes no sense to me. Good luck!
Somebody asked... are hydrocodone and Tylenol the same generic verses name brand. Well the answer is hydrocodone is a narcotic, and tylenol is over the counter pain relief.non narcotic. Use your laptop or what you have to inform yourself of what you are ingesting.peace, fiarella
my mom has never gotten relief from generic and has been running into the supply problem mentioned here. my pharmacist made some phone calls and found that brand vicodin 5s and vicodin 10s were no longer available due to cessation of production. he feels that the vicodin 7.5s that he was able to find available for order are probably what is left from the last production runs and will soon be completely unavailable as well
