Then why am I experiencing more pain?

Are you taking the same number of pills as before? If so, the only thing I can think of is that you metabolize codeine-based products differently than you metabolize oxycodone. Some people have a thing where they need more or less of a drug because of how they metabolize it - from antidepressants to pain medication, it's built into your DNA and metabolism. I need higher levels of Vicodin because I metabolize it too fast. Oxycodone, on the other hand, I need prescribed in lower doses than most people, because I metabolize it slower than the average person.
