Has anyone had success with very small dose? 2.5 mg or so? I am very very sensitive to SSRIs and in the past have done terrible on them at "normal" doses, but have had some relief with small doses (e.g. 2.5 mg Paxil, 12.5mg Zoloft). I find them very agitating in the beginning and they make my anxiety symptoms much worse. I have been taking 2mg (liquid) Celexa for 3 weeks now and seeing some benefit, though the sleep is messed up (but was messed up before I started). Would be curious to hear of other's experiences. I am female, in my 40s, normal weight, a little on the thin side. Thanks in advance.
I think i responded to a request of your recently... the dose you are on is extremely low, I don't understand, personally how this can be of therapeutic value, but it you are finding it a success then good for you! Another option, if you are sensitive to SSRI's, maybe ask your doctor to try a Trycylclic antidepressant? Such as Amitriptyline, which will also help you sleep?
Jilly; Really it is you that counts and all of us are different If it seems to be giving you some benefits that is good this way you can have the doctor up it a little if you notice it's not working as well. Very common with these medications is to work your way through the worst part being the first 2 weeks then to reach the full benefit with this one its like 4 weeks and if you need to you could always get the doctor to increase it a little at a time but remember some of the side effects well come back for a short period. Many people with low tolerance have gotten by with much less of the therapeutic dose. When they have a very low tolerance to medications.
