Hi, mk! Venlafaxine and buspirone are two entirely different classes of drugs and there is really no way of predicting which might work better for you because every person responds differently to medications. Buspirone works very well for some people and not well at all for others. The same with venlafaxine.
Personally, I took venlafaxine for many years and it worked extremely well for both depression and my anxiety disorders. I only stopped taking it because of a change of my diagnosis and a switch to different medications.
If you do decide to switch I hope it works as well for you as it did for me. It's certainly worth a try but be aware that a few people have side effects for the first couple of weeks after starting it. Also, it can take as long as 4-6 weeks to really feel the full benefits.
