The Dr prescribed me venflaxine 75mg and bus par for anxiety... I'm 18 and scared of effects... also I have xanax for back up... but I don't know what to expect! Never been on them before. Xanax I've take for 2 weeks. Should I take at night or day... reminding y'all I have anxiety towards meds. I have severe panic attacks... help?"
I take venlafaxine. I take it in the morning because it keeps me awake if I take it at night. I wouldn't give it up. Buspar I have seen help many people. One thing, don't look at the side effects unless you realize that it isn't saying you'll get any of them. I would start them on a day when you didn't have to go out. At first it could make you feel a little funny. I always wait until I can stay home to start a new med just in case.
I disagree with Kaismama. You absolutely should be aware of the side effects. Patients need to educate themselves before putting chemicals in the body that directly affect brain chemistry. I ran both drugs in the Interactions Checker on this website and this is what it said:
Talk to your doctor before using busPIRone together with venlafaxine. Combining these medications can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Severe cases may result in coma and even death. You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms while taking the medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
These medications are relatively safe and could be very beneficial. Remember, you suffer from an anxiety disorder; couldn't some of your worry about the medication be associated with your underlying psychological disorder? Trust the doctor, and find out all the information you can on these drugs. I recommend using this site as your first resource. There is very helpful information on here. You just have to poke around a bit to find it.
