Hi, Apywel! Effexor is an excellent medication for both depression and anxiety. I took it for nearly 5 years with very good results.
Your doctor has you on a good plan for switching and it should help minimize any potential side effects. When starting venlafaxine there's a chance that you may feel an increase in anxiety (7% of users), nausea (30%), dry mouth (15%) and/or sweating (11%). Usually these effects last no longer than a few days to a week or two, especially at the lower initial dose and can easily be managed with home and OTC remedies. There's also a very good chance you'll have no side effects at all with your program.
You'll never know how beneficial this drug may be for you unless you try it. Even if you hit a rough patch the end result may be what you need to feel better again
Best wishes and good luck to you! Feel free to post here any time. There are many wonderful people here who'll be happy to advise and share their own experiences. Wildcat
