... two days and noticed they were passing through! Whole! Am on standard release now just wonderded if anyone else had this?
If you took a capsule, are you sure the contents were still inside the capsule? Sometimes the empty capsule is excreted but the medicine is in the person's body. If it was a tablet, it's a good thing you changed to standard release.
The link below has hundreds of people's experiences with venlafaxine to scan through if you like. You might find where someone had your experience.
I'm glad I came across this post because a couple days ago I noticed something in my stool that for a moment I thought was my Venlafaxine pill. But then I thought no way, it must have been something that I ate that didn't digest. But it makes sense because I was telling my doctor that I didn't think the pills were working. So if they are not being broken down and processed through my system...
I've run QA/QC depts for 35 years in Pharma Manufacturing, so I'm familiar with this issue. Extended release tablets are frequently manufactured using a waxy matrix. This retards the penetration of stomach and intestinal fluids slowing the release. The core matrix doesn't dissolve easily, forcing the active drug to leach out slowly, rather than quickly dissolving as it does in a lactose & starch core tablet. It is not unusual for the core remanent to "clink hitting the bedpan" , as it was described to me by patients. You got the correct dosage, don't worry.
As for the comment by one responder... gelatin capsules cannot pass through the gastric system intact. The gelatin is completely dissolved within minutes. If it was to miraculously pass through your gut, there is no way for the medication to be exposed to the digestive fluids and on to your system.
