Venlafaxine - Can I take the medicine lithium with Effexor?

Him CrystalCat! Yes, you can under a doctor's supervision because there is a very slight risk of the combination causing serotonin syndrome, an extremely rare but serious disorder. Also, if you are taking lithium you need a blood test every 3 ~ 6 months to determine that your blood level stays within therapeutic range.
That being said, I took lithium and Effexor for over 4 years with no ill effects.

PS, if you're taking lithium because you've been diagnosed as Bipolar II be aware that antidpressants like Effexor can precipitate manic episodes.
