On the 9th day of a 7-day antibiotic cycle for vaginosis, meaning it's been done for 2 days, is there a reason not to use a water-only douche just once to clean out the excess cream that is sticky and inhibiting my intimacy with my boyfriend?
When you douche, even with water, you upset the natural bacterial balance of the vagina which can aggravate vaginosis. It upsets the pH balance and upsets the good bacteria/bad bacteria balances. This can allow for an overgrowth of bad bacteria and yeasts (Candida). The vagina is a self cleansing organ and you should not douche. The vagina will clear the cream on its own. You can just clean the outer area after using the cream. If the vaginal cavity feels sticky from the cream, you may want to use a water based lubricant like KY to help slick things up. You may just be not producing enough of your own lubrication rather than it being the actual cream residue. The cream residue should be cleared by 24 hours or so of inserting it.
