Why did my urologist give me amitriptyline for my incontinence?

Hi tatro-
Your urologist may be using it to cover a broad spectrum of disorders.
Amitriptyline can be used for depression, insomnia, fibromyalgia, migraine, IBS, painful bladder, TMJ, anxiety and PTSD. Some of these uses and others maybe what is called 'off label'. Not approved for the disorder but may help.
For the most accurate answer it may be best to ask your doctor why he prescribed it.

My doctor prescribed it to me for interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome and it seems to be working well for both the condition and my depression.

I believe the doctor gave you that med in order to slow down your bladder spasms.
