I have had OCD for nearly all of my adult life. I took Prozac 80 mg for 10 years, and Lexapro 40 mg for 7 years. Both medicines took my "pure O" symptoms away (intrusive thoughts of death) About 3 months ago it started up again. My doctor put me on Viibryd (made me too nervous), and Zoloft (did nothing about the thoughts). I was then put on Luvox 50mg for 2 weeks, then Luvox 100 mg for 2 weeks. With thoughts of death still invading my brain, my doctor has told me to take 200 mg. along with 10 mg of Zyprexa. Will these thoughts ever end? I can't enjoy life because of the thoughts!!! Any help out there?
The good news is, yes, it will end. Unfortunately nothing works overnight.
You have to give it at least 6 weeks to determine if a medication is going
to work. I would suggest counseling and something to take your mind off of the immediate problems. Good self talk is important. I know being patient is not easy (been there) but try to hang in there.
