I take Norco on a daily basis for Spinal Arthritis, lower back pain, and sever leg pain. While at the ER they prescribed for me to take Robaxin. It has been a life saver. But my Primary Care Dr. says she will not prescribe it for me. I have not been able to talk to her to find out why. Can you help me?
There is a caution that it can cause respiratory depression if you take the two of them. Some drs are content with giving you that warning, others just simply won't do it.
Some Drs also feel giving the two together increases chance for dependence since muscle relaxants potentiate pain medications (or make them feel stronger). It can increase sedation and respiratory depression as well, as KM states. You might ask your PCP if there is any kind of muscle relaxant she will prescribe. It is probably muscle spasms contributing to your pain and that is why the Robaxin helps. I personally dont see the big deal in giving them together but some docs are very conservative that way.
I was just prescribed both by my PCP and I went from absolute misery to feeling great with just.the first dose! Love the cocktail!
