Doctor prescribed Restoril in December 2011. Only helped me sleep the first or second night I took a pill. Then he prescribed Klonipin. This medication also does not help me sleep any longer. Mostly I am awake all night.
I took trazodone for several years and it worked fine. For some reason the doctor took me off of this last summer (2011) and now I do not sleep hardly at all. Any suggestions for a medication that might help/
Hello PurinaChick. I might suggest another benzodiazepoine for sleep. Dalmane. But the Dalmane a benzodiazepine created for sleeping purposes only, as is restoril, might not be be any help. Mind you one never can tell. I'm surprised you don't sleep on these type of drugs. Klonopin is an anxiety benzodiazepine and people take it much as Xanax to help them sleep but these type of benzodiazepines are used in this manner for off label purposes. Meaning they're not created for sleeping. There is Remeron and Seroquel, different family of drugs, and thier off label use is often perscribed for helping a person get some sleep. Regards, pledge
Why don't you ask your doctor why he took you off Trazodone? I have been on it since 2007. Although I have been able to reduce my dose but not because my doctor asked me to. It would be nice to know why since it worked for you. You don't want to keep this up, that makes it hard to function and feel normal eh?
Good luck and take care,
