Just a hypothesis, however, as it does have opiate-like properties, it POSSIBLY could have similar peristolic properties as a true opioid and slow the natural movement of the digestive system. I am truly taking a guess with this, however, it does seem very possible if your issue is due to a hyperspastic digestive issue... and your stomach has tolerated the medication... it may be why you there has been less symptoms... please, someone else add to this, if I am in the ballpark on this...
