Dear Mvolpe... try finding someone... like a good orthopod or a pain doc or rheumatologist who is good with injections, to inect your carpel tunnel with some steroid... like Celestine or kenalog. I had CT surgery on my left hard a little over a year ago and it worked great. My right hand then started showing the symptoms... this is very common to have the other hand show symptoms after having the other hand done surgically. I was not ready to have another surgery so a rheumatologist injected my right tunnel with steroid and it lasted for 14 months. Just recently the symptoms started to reoccur. I went to the same doc for another injection a few weeks ago and the symptoms are gone once again. I am hoping to get 14 mos. Out of it again. I will keep doing this as long as I get >1 yr out of each injection. So... why don't you give that a try and maybe you can get the same relief I got.
My symptoms were so bad that, even though I slept with a hand splint, i still woke up every morning with my hand so numb that the pain was very bad and my hand stayed asleep for over an hour after I woke up... this is just a suggestion... but it can buy you some time.
I hope this helps... it was a Godsend for me... good luck and I hope that you feel better soon...
I missed something, tis early and I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree at the mo. What meds are you going to run out of?
Are you talking about pain meds?
And I must agree with Laurie, the carpal tunnel correction surgery is a snap!
I had it done and the recovery time is quick, the pain diminishes almost instantly too.
Best wishes and do get back to us about what meds you are running out of!!
This is more about the pain meds right now then the surgery in January?
I know many have answered about carpel tunnel and I agree with them, I too have had a surgery. There was a time I could not even answer the phone on my desk, use my hand to drive or move the mouse with my left hand. The surgery fixed my problem and it has been 5 years, not once until now have I thought about it. Knock on wood. When you do have the surgery, you will be fine.
BUT, as I read your question. Let me try to understand. Right now you are out of meds ( pain PIlls)? You have a week to go before refill and you worry about Withdrawals? Happends a lot? Same cycle, you run out before your refill? I do not know what you are taking. Either you are taking too many because you like how they make you feel or what ever it is you are on, well, might not be strong enough? You need to be truthful with yourself.
My advice, without knowing the meds, I will l speculate and if I am wrong I apologize. I too took more pain meds then prescribed, many of us did. I did this for years. Serious stuff, OXycotins. Anyway, I was in the cycle too but a few months ago I had enough up the pills dictating my life. I stopped. On my own. You can read my profile. 8 weeks cold turkey.
You if I am right in my assumption, you are deciding what to say to the DR. because you do not think you can make it with out pills for 7 days?
I think you are where I was mentally, I had enough with the running out all the time. I think you need to tell he/she the truth. Depending on the meds, I think you know this, it will be a tought week without any. If you want to get off the merry go-round, then you need to have a heart to heart with DR.
Again if I have mis-understood your post I am sorry. If I am on point and you wish to discuss, please feel free to contact me. In fact the others, especailly PUP and others who have answered about CP, can also advise you.
My best wishes
