I'm only 36 & it has been suggested to try for disability ... thoughts? I am on gabapintin tramadol ambien Xanax & here I sit wide awake & in pain
Hi Jstarrlynn, You do need a rheumatologist, as kiasmama has suggested. If you are attempting disability for fibro, you may need a lawyer. I believe it is very difficult to qualify if you are married and your husband's earnings are over a certain amount, but I could be wrong (it's happened before, me being wrong, LOL) on that account. I didn't pursue it, though. IF you pursue it with great tenacity you just may end up with a disability income. I do hope you win that fight! (my doc also suggested disability income for me as well, but at the time I had my own business)
You may need to find a Pain Management doc as well as the Rheumatologist. They are more willing to rx pain medication that may not be covered by Lyrica or gabapentin alone.
Best wishes to you and welcome to this site, if you are a newbie!
A friend of mine, living in Maryland, which is a more liberal State, did get disability for her fibromyalgia and her husband did make a good salary. See a lawyer. It may help to have a diagnosis for fibromyalgia as well as for depression and RLS. The lawyer can advise you. But make sure you get a lawyer who specializes in disability cases. Good luck.
