I am a Type I Diabetic, I was diagnosed 8 years ago. I have over the last 8 months been dealing with Diabetic Nueropathy and it continues to worsen. I was on 2700mg of Gabapentin with a kicker of 200 mg of Tramadol for about 2 months and found no relief, but had many side affects. Now I am on Lyrica 225mg daily and the Tramadol, with 2400mg of ibuprofen. I have seen some results but I am still suffering and am not able to work due to the pain walking and standing causes me. I really do not like taking all these medications especially since they dont work very well Has anyone any suggestions on alternate pain relief or more effective medications? I will try anything at this point...
I myself do not have diabetes or neuropathy. However, I have a family member who too has taken Tramadol for his diabetes.
When he took the Tramadol alone he got a little bit of pain relief.
However, when he took Tramadol in combination with Voltaren gel he got more relief. The Voltaren gel was especially helpful with his lower extremities.
Run it by your doctor to see if he thinks it might be appropriate for you as well.
I'm not sure about the Tramadol milligrams nor do I know how many he took a day.
I do know though when he combined the two medications his overall pain level became more manageable & tolererable.
Talk with your doctor, maybe it will help?
