Nobody seems to know just how type 2 diabetes is caused, other than it is not developed as type 1 is, through the persons immune system attacking the isles of langerham and destroying the beta cells that produce insulin, so that makes type1 an autoimmune disease and type 2 not. Science has not figured out how type 2 happens. They do know that type 2 are mostly insulin resistance although there are a few that are insulin sensitive and their pancreas are dying for unknown reasons. Wish I could give you a firm answer, because we can't fix something if we don't know why it's broke
