I am on suboxone and amitriptyline for fibromyalgia. For about two weeks I have had very bright lights flash out of the corners of both eyes, sort of like a camera flash going off, but with a trail (sort of a spastic shooting star?). Last night I was sitting outside on the patio with my brother and 'saw' a firefly go by my right side. Bright yellow light. I asked him if he saw it, but he hadn't. About a minute later I saw another bright yellow light go by my left side. When he hadn't seen that one either, I figured it was the same thing I've been seeing only yellow this time. It has been going on for a while, numerous times a day. Is this something I should be concerned about?!
Do you get a headache right after you see these odd lights?
The reason I ask is this, when I was on a large dose of OxyContin, I would see odd lights like that (and glare from the sun too) and it would start a migraine immediately. But it was the opiate doing this to me.
I've seen other posts from ppl on Suboxone that are having vision problems, so it could possibly be the subs.
Hope it goes away!!
I was once on Sub for 5 years and never saw things like that. But I'm now on Sub again, this time about 5 months. I have also been seeing flashes of light. But it seems to be towards the upper part of my visual field. It seems to real I turn my head to look for what it was. But I'm in my home when it happens. I think it always happens when I'm tired, after being awake close to 24 hours. So I've been chalking it up to exhaustion. I've also been wondering about mentioning it to the doc. I'd say you should tell your doc. I bet he shrugs his shoulders at you. But tell him anyway.
I don't know your age, but I had this happen to me, & when I mentioned it to my eye doctor he had me see a specialist because that is the sign of a detached retina. Now don't get scared. Only if you start seeing a veil like or spider web type of thing that's when it is serious, & need immediate attention. I had this going on for 2 weeks, & just happened to have an eye appt. for glasses is how I found out what it is. What is going on are little strings of tissue are detaching from the retina in your eye. Not a serious thing in itself until the veil or spider web thing appears. If it does you could lose your vision if surgery is not done immediately to correct it...
