Since 2012 I have been on 1 mg Clonazepam, 50 mgs of Amitriptyline, 50 mgs of Hydroxyzine and 25 mgs of Promethazine. Also my blood pressure medicine along with my cholesterol medicine. I can’t sleep at night. If I do get sleepy I sleep maybe 2 hours 3 max. I’m getting really frustrated and I’m starting to have frequent anxiety attacks. I don’t want more medicine I’m on a plenty. However, I can’t sleep. I need help bad before my manic depression kicks in. Anyone have any suggestions?
Hi Sapphire1976, I'm over 80 and also was prescribed hydroxyzine and am having a lot of trouble sleeping. I have hypertension and high cholesterol medications too. I'm very sorry to hear about your anxiety and hope that you have gotten some relief since Dec. Depression is a tough one and I am going through some of that myself, but am working with cognitive behavioral therapy and meditation. I would like to stop the hydroxyzine and eventually my other medications, as much as possible, as they all have side effects, which we then need to treat with MORE medications! I hope you are feeling better. I am also trying to eat well, including avoiding trigger foods like caffeine, sugar, white flour, etc. Eat lots of fiber. Talking to a therapist also helps me. Take care of yourself.
