I have a serious toothache that is very painful and emergency room doctor gives me meloxicam for pain is this ok?
Meloxicam is an anti-inflamatory which may be helpful. I would probably get something like Orajel to use in conjunction with it, that may be of more help with the immediate pain. You should definitely contact your dentist first thing in the morning. It would depend on the cause of your toothache what treatment he could recommend. If he doesn't keep emergency weekend hours, he may be willing to call you in an actual pain medication if you're an established patient. You could use tylenol with the meloxicam for additional relief. Try alternating warm/cold compresses also. But definitely contact your dentist in the morning.
