I have been taking Ambien, 10 mg, and want to stop taking it. now, I take Ambien mg nightly. Would like to stop taking Ambien altogether. I have a problem falling asleep and staying asleep. Is Trazodone addictive? I'd like to think that I just need to get my sleep cycle back. If I take Trazodone for 3-4 weeks, will I become addicted to it? Thank you.
Hello aliu. Trazodone is actually an-antidepressant. It can be addictive, but when given in a lower dose, its effective in helping you to sleep. Many people use it, as an alternative to the benzodiazepine sleeping pills such as Dalmane,Halcion and so on. People are generally happy to be on it on it, and when missing a dose, feel fine. The side effects are minimal.Best wishes to you.
I have been taking Trazodone for 4 years and it works as good now as then. I recently have been cutting back 25 mg a week slowly to a dose that I need to fall asleep. My life is not stressful as before so I am cutting back on doctors and my orders. I am not having any trouble so far cutting down. Hope this helps you!
